In a far away land with no name things are perpetually quiet and peaceful, particularly quiet and peaceful for Presto, the purple Tanuki. Presto is the appointed guard of the Millennium Crystal, the source of the land's protection. Not many would think to harm their own well being by threatening the Millennium Crystal, so Presto's days are usually filled with carefree snoozing. However, today is not such a day, as the mysterious entity known as Thundros becomes envious of the crystal's power and attacks! Presto is helpless but to watch the Millennium Crystal shatters and it's shards plummet to the land below. Determined to prove his worth, the brave little Tanuki leaps into the unknown to recover them. Joined by his fairy friends: Yuki and Hotaru, Presto will travel across the land in search of the Millennium Shards and the source of their destruction.

- 2 How To Play -
-------------------
"Presto's Broken Dream" is a Playstation RPG Maker game. In order to play, you'll need a Playstation, a Dex Drive, two blank memory cards, and the RPG Maker disc. Load "Presto_Data.gme" and "Presto_Art.gme" to separate memory cards. Pick "GAME" from the RPG Maker menu and then load "Presto's Dream". When the hill scene appears, press X to begin playing.

- 3 About Presto's World -
----------------------------
When you gain control, you'll be in the world map. From here you may select which of the first four levels to play. Step on the green tile and you'll be sent to that level. Once you begin a level, you will not be able to leave until it is complete, so it might be best to proceed through them in order from left to right. Levels on the left being easier, and levels to right becoming more difficult.

The four levels are:

Docile Woods
The first level is a good place to get accustomed to the game. These woods are relatively safe to traverse, however, they are also the home of many troublesome slimes.

Splash Cave
Level 2 is the ruin of an ancient underground city that has become submerged in water. This place isn't to tricky if you aren't afraid to get your paws wet.

Creepy Estate
The third Millennium Shard has landed in a strange, abandoned mansion where it is perpetually night. It is said that the estate is haunted, so be on your guard while exploring it's many rooms.

Frost Summit
The fourth level is the snowy cap of a mountain. The ice is slippery and the paths are sheer, so watch your footing.

* Other things to look out for in the world map are:

The Save Point
To the far left is a large, glowing circle. Step on it to save your progress to a memory card.

Shard and Coin Markers
If you have obtained the Millennium Shard or complete coin collection for any level, a marker indicating your progress will appear by the level entrance.

Side Areas
You may notice small islands below the mainland. These are side areas. You can access them as you make progress in the main adventure.

-----------------------------
- 4 Objects and Obstacles -
-----------------------------
Inside a level, you'll discover that there are many objects that impede or aid your progress.
Below are just some of the things you'll encounter.

Tiki Block
These blocks usually keep Presto from where he wants to go. Search the room for a solution, and these blocks will disappear. A blue Tiki Block will let you by if you become trapped behind it.

Locked Gate
To pass a locked gate requires a key. Look nearby for a chest that contains the key. When a gate is opened, the key will be lost.

Ice Pillar
A large pillar of ice that can only be melted by Hotaru.

Water Pool
A small pool or gap between stepping stones can be frozen over by Yuki.

Baddie
Baddies such as slimes or skeletons will have a harmful effect upon touching them. This ranges from stealing your fairy friend to resetting your progress in the room. Avoid them at all cost.

Tile
There's no telling what will happen when you step on a colored tile. The only way to find out is by experimenting.

Button
Pressing a button can have a number of effects, the most common being the removal of Tiki Blocks.

Switch
Switches are mounted to walls. Like buttons, their use can have a number of effects, but usually, a switch can be turned off if the effect was undesired.

Lantern
Much like switches, the effect of lighting/extinguishing a lantern can usually be reversed. However, to light a lantern requires Hotaru, and extinguishing one requires Yuki.

Treasure Chest
Opening a treasure chest will give Presto an item, fairy, or coins.

-------------
- 5 Items -
-------------
There are many items that will help aid Presto. To examine your inventory, open the [] menu and choose "Items". To check how many coins you have at any time, choose "Status".

Hotaru
Hotaru is the spunky fire fairy. When she follows Presto around, she can melt ice pillars and light lanterns. Hotaru can be found inside red Treasure Chests.

Yuki
Yuki is the melancholy ice fairy. When she follows Presto, she can create ice bridges over small pools and extinguish lanterns. Yuki can be found inside of green Treasure Chests.

(Unfortunately, Yuki and Hotaru don't get along all that well. When you find a fairy while one already accompanies you, the newly found fairy replaces the older one.)

Coin
In each level there are 30 coins. If you complete or leave the level without a full collection, you'll have to start from scratch the next time you enter that level. An applause will alert you when you've obtained all 30. If you collect all the coins in all four levels, something good is bound to happen.

Coin Chest
If you open a yellow chest and a coin pops out, you've just found five coins. That's 1/6th of the way to your goal!

Key
Each key will open one locked gate. Keys are found inside yellow Treasure Chests.

Millennium Shards
At the end of each level you'll find a piece of the Millennium Crystal. Pick it up to clear the level.

Book
Occasionally, a yellow chest may contain a book. It will bestow a hint about how to progress.

???
If you search Creepy Estate and Frost Summit well, you may find strange items. They'll open up side areas.

- 6 Hints And Tips -
----------------------

Returning to a Cleared Level
You may want to replay a level you completed, perhaps to collect coins or just for fun. You should note that when you play in a cleared level, you may return to the world map at any time by choosing "Exit Level" from the "Items" menu. The Millennium Shard in a cleared level is replaced by a colored tile. Touch it to return to the world map.

A chest/button etc. is out of reach
There could be a hidden path, though they're uncommon. Test the walls, you may be able to walk on them! Otherwise, perhaps there's another entrance into the room. Try exploring elsewhere in the level.

A fairy disappeared
Occasionally, the fairies will disappear when entering a new room. Don't worry, whenever this happens, the room in question won't require fairies. Simply return to the fairy's chest to reunite.

When the first 4 levels have been cleared, a fifth becomes available. The challenge of Thundros' domain is to startling to reveal. If you've made it this far, you should be able to handle anything he throws at you. Good luck, and thanks for playing!
